What’s on my mind
God already willed it. That’s why we feel a calling to do certain things, live a certain way, attain a certain level of autonomy. The seed’s already been planted. The life we want doesn’t need to be created. It needs to be accepted.
Acceptance is important. Accepting the people and things that we cannot change as we progress through the levels of life.
Everybody can’t go. Everybody won’t understand the mission because it was not assigned to them. It was assigned to us, individually. What we can’t do is slow down and attempt to convince others that we’re going in the right direction. We just need to go. Keep moving forward. Go as far as we can see and we will see some more.
Building
I have been working on everything. I am moving this month. I have been living in the city since I graduated college. Apartment to apartment. My fiancee and I wanted a house. No more sharing walls. No loud music. More space. No paying for parking. Garage. Backyard. Home office. Etc. Thank God for the opportunity to level up.
We have been doing a lot. Had to buy a new washer/dryer for the crib. And preparing to pack for the move. I have a good friend who is moving into a nice apartment downtown, so I hope to pass off some of the things we won’t need to him. We have a few more things to get, but we are blessed to have most of what we need and want. I feel good for myself and wifey. She always wanted a home and I’m glad we can have that experience.
I am writing this on September 6th. The same day that I am going to send this to you. We still need to go grocery shopping, take our Saturday walk, water the plants, start packing, etc. We are working on everything! But I’m happy. It’s not always easy to allow myself to be happy. Especially as a man. More specifically a black man. Growing up the way I did. Seeing the things I did. Being programmed a certain way. But I am unlearning the things that don’t serve me anymore. And allowing myself to be happy is a beautiful feeling.
We’ll talk more about this unlearning process in our next conversation.
On repeat lately
I’ve been listening to A LOT of different music this week. Some of it reminds of the challenging times in my life when I was hustling, strengthening my faith, and dreaming of a better situation. And some of it feels like the calm appreciation for my current life. I want more, but I am grateful for what I have. It could always be better but it could also be worse. Let me know how it makes you feel.
Larry June: Organic Watermelon Juice (One of my favorite songs of all time.)

Reading
Didn’t get much book reading in this week. But got a different kind of reading in. A lot of conversations with my lady. Talking about life, what we think it means, what love means, how we want to raise our kids one day.
That’s what this really is. Bossing up and understanding that family is the real wealth. The material things, the experiences — fun, but they’re not it. Family is what matters. It’s beautiful.
Random stuff on my mind
I’ve been looking at vintage cars a lot lately. I always make jokes with my lady when I see a little silly car. I always tell her I’ll buy it for her. Knowing she won’t want it, lol. I came across these 1998 Chevy Geo Trackers. 95 horsepower. 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine. And available in four wheel drive.
Funny enough, we were driving to a cafe we like and I saw one sitting in a random driveway. It looked alright, but I live in Michigan. So I’m knowing the car has sat outside in the snow, rain, etc. It had two flat tires too. But it was the two-door convertible. I pulled down the street and wrote down the address. I am thinking about sending them a letter in the mail with an offer to purchase it, lol. We’ll see how it goes.
That’s what I’ve been on. If you have anything interesting going on, let me know. A song, book, or a hobby. Reply and let me know. I read everything.
Also wanted to let you know I make organic whipped tallow. I use it on my face, hands, and facial hair. Full size containers and small travel sizes coming. I’m also pouring my own candles, a coconut and beeswax blend, starting with unscented versions. No hormone disruptors. Not selling anything yet, just seeding the idea to see who’s interested. Reply and let me know if that’s you.
I’ll also be doing a small group call every week. The first three people who reply and say they want to chat get selected. I’ll rotate it every week. Then maybe once a month we’ll do a bigger group call too.
